Well , almost a year since the last update...........sorry to those frequent browsers amongst you!

High summer nearly here and I've been kept pretty busy through spring with the usual RSAMD work, private teaching and workshops. I taught again at the Adult Feis (not entirely x rated) in Ullapool in early May, after a break of a few years and it was great to meet up again with all the amazing tutors I'd not seen for a while. www.feisean.org/rois.html

The following weekend was our own local Folk Festival in Moniaive www.moniaivefolkfestival.co.uk  which was a lot of work but a fantastic success. The late Saturday night session around the Green Tea House fire with Ruth Morris on nyckelharpa and several of Moishe's Bagel playing till 5.30 am (when I played the Day Dawn to a chorus of blackbirds) was one I won't forget in a while.

My Lewis teaching started up its once a month, 3 month stint again in mid May and on the 27th I had the great pleasure of playing at ex-pupil Kate Mackinnon`s 100th birthday party. As I had written Fires at Midnight for her I had to play that, along with another composition, a wee slow Strathspey entitled Kate Mackinnon of Kippford which she was pleased to know is now on the repertoire lists for Grade 1 traditional music exams syllabus! http://gradedexams.rsamd.ac.uk

The rest of the summer will be taken up with another harp (plus double bass and monochord this year) building course in our village hall run by the fabulous Christoph Locherbach (whose birthday celebrations we attended in Bavaria in mid June) www.klangwerkstatt.de and various local choir events. A few of us got together for the folk fest under the wonderful instruction of Ali Burns and really enjoy ourselves but at the moment can't decide between calling ourselves the Singer's Club or The Wind Farmers!
